DIY : How to make coconut lavender and mint deodorant

Summer is just around the corner. So today's tutorial is about :
learning how to make your own deodorant. Sounds crazy ? Stick with me...
I don't know about you, but off the shelf deodorants freak me out.
They are full of nasty sounding ingredients you can' t even pronounce or
know what they are.

Let's cut the chase : most of them have aluminium,
and scientists are still debating wether or not it's bad for your health.
I say it is definitely toxic, when there is a safe and natural alternative that only
cost pennies. So, to make this deo you need

Coconut oil

Lavender essential oil

Mint essential oil

Cypress essential oil

Just put the coconut oil in hot water to melt it.
Then add 2 drops of lavender, mint and cypress essential oil.
Shake the bottle and you are done !

If you like, you can use other essential oils.
But you definitely want to avoid lemon, orange and grapefruit.
The problem is that if you apply citrus essential oil to skin, when you
go out in the sun, it will bleach your skin.

You can safely replace them with sandalwood ,rosemary, clary sage,
tea tree or thyme essential oil

Coconut not only smells great, it also fights bacteria which causes  body odor.

The finished product looks like this.
So easy and it only takes 5 minutes.

Blogger Interview : Laura Summerscales from Fashion Breaks My Heart

This month ' s blogger is Laura Summerscales,a UK fashion student
who blogs at Fashion Breaks My heart  about ''the nice things in life '' .

When and why did you start your blog ?

I started my blog back in 2010 just after I came back from New York
for my nineteenth birthday, in the same month I attended LFW-end and
felt inspired to start a blog covering some of the clothes/trend's I 'd
come across and share some of the thing's I'd gotten up to that month

How would you descrbe your style ?

My style is really quite girly, I love pastels, florals,
lace, detailing anything that's wearable and doll like, it's quite the opposite
to my younger years which I spent in mostly black and grey!

What inspires you fashionwise ?

Inspiration really comes from a lot of thing's mainly my hobbies I enjoy like
designing and making clothes, searching for lovely textiles to work with.
I love to read fantasy's and draw detailed pictures.

I have a big love for interiors and home decor idea's and I find a lot of that has gone
into the way I like to dress myself.Designer wise I love Dior, Marc Jacobs, Mcqueen,
Elie Saab, Galliano back in his glory days and christian lacroix.

The fairy tale dresses and masses of colour, ruffles, just the imagination and
clothing that makes you think and want to be a character, it's fun!

How is blogging like  for you ?

I enjoy blogging because of the leverage and freedom to write and share ideas,
things I enjoy and find interesting with others. The blogging world I think
is a great environment.

I'm yet to come across a blogger who is not polite or
enthusiastic to share their thoughts and comments with consideration.
I think it helps people communicate about things they love without feeling
like they will be judged or criticised. It's pleasant and something I take pleasure in.

What advice could you give a newcomer to the fashion blogging world ?

I've found the FBL bloggers network a great place to promote my posts
and meet new people. I've found relatable bloggers who share the same interests
and so learnt and explored new ideas! It's been really good.

My advice would be, make your blog approachable and appropriate for everyone to enjoy.
We all like different things but it's about sharing what we find and making friends.

My style would be domestic goddesss , I wish. cooking/baking, old fashioned;
making presents for people rather than buying them and saving money by
using things I already have.

I encourage the bringing back of old traditions and wholesome things to
enjoy in out modern lifestyles

Is there any particular trend you adore ?

Trend wise at the moment, I'm made up pastels are such a role in this seasons
high street stores and on the catwalk's.

Ever since louis vuitton's carousel circled their S/S12 collection I've been in awe and
in love. that doll like look, pale colours, glitter, detail's and slightly off vintage style
will always be a trend I will happily succumb too.

Thanks Laura. Don't forget to check out her blog.
